5 Common Mistakes Made By New Internet Marketers
You’ve just subscribed to this great new affiliate program. They’ve got good products, free of charge referral web sites, coaching, pre-made advertisements for you to copy and the best comp plan on the net. This is the best affiliate network online! Put a few ads on the market and you’re on your journey to turning into another web millionaire. Correct?
Before you decide to get started on that huge show place on the hillside, here are some mistakes a lot of new online marketers make that you will want to stay away from.
1. Believing the hype
And yes, I do mean the hype promoted by your own program. Those earnings forecasts that each system makes are simply that, forecasts. You may make that much. Will you within your first couple of months of the program? Most likely not. Look at this as a longer term investment in your future, not a method to get rich quick. Have confidence in yourself and your ability to help make your ambitions come true. But don’t believe the hype.
2. Planning on immediate results with little effort
Be prepared to work your business. And be prepared to work it daily. If you opened your own neighborhood shop, you’d expect to have to go into work daily, wouldn’t you? You would expect to have to promote and get folks to come to your shop. Well, you just opened your own completely new internet store, what are you going to do to really make it work? How will you get people to come look at your product?
3. Lack of a plan and specific objectives
You have probably heard the saying, plan your work and work your plan. You need to have a specific plan and clear, measurable objectives. Many people join affiliate programs with the vague goal of wanting to make a lot of money. How much cash? How quickly do you want it?
(Try to be practical here, creating a million bucks in one month is not realistic.) Okay, you have your clear, specific objective. Now how are you going to get there?.
Again, think clear, specific measures here.
4. Advertising your affiliate url
Wait a minute, if you don’t market your affiliate url, how are you likely to get sales and down line members? Create your own internet site that has a url to your affiliate program. Every affiliate for your system gets exactly the same internet site that you do. You need to be capable of making yourself different from everyone else. The way you do that is with your own site.
5. Quitting
You have been working your affiliate program for 2, 3, perhaps even 4 months now with not much to show for it. You are getting frustrated and beginning to question if this is worth it after all. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and figure out what it is you need to be doing. Learn more. Bug your sponsor and your upline affiliates until they help you out. Do not give up. No one ever achieved success by giving up. Neither will you.
